DAY NINE

When I went to bed it was raining and when I woke this morning it was still raining. The forecast called for rain all day ending sometime Tuesday night. It was coming down pretty hard so now I had a decision to make. Do I sign on for another night and spend the day reading or do I push on to Halifax?
Marion Cross, a good friend living in Parry Sound, had suggested I look up a very old friend of hers, Bob Griffin, who had a place just north of Dartmouth on Jedorre Inlet. She had provided me with his phone number and address before I left Muskoka so I called him and his response was for me to come on down. He only lived about an hour away from my campground in Truro so I packed up and headed to Bob's place. He had warned me that he had his son and family visiting from Toronto but that I was still very welcome to stay. When I arrived at his place a little after 1:00 pm the sun was starting to peek out from behind all the clouds. He had me park next to his driveway near the garage so I had access to electricity and wouldn't be in the way.
He was very welcoming and gave me a house tour, poured me a glass of wine and we sat out on his back deck while he gave me some tips to explore the area.

Now, looking out off the back deck you see the water. That's the Atlantic Ocean and its saltwater.

As you can see, the sunshine didn't last too long but still no rain. I was invited to join the family for a barbeque so no cooking tonight for me. In past years I have always noticed that my most memorable parts of my adventures involve people and interacting with new people in new places. It just so happened that Bob's son, daughter in law and their two young children had just arrived in Halifax yesterday for a ten-day vacation from Toronto so it was a packed house. Not wanting to interfere with their family plans I opted to live in my trailer while visiting but it was fun to share a meal with all these new faces.
The forecasted rain showers started just as we were finishing up with dinner so the timing was perfect. They do have mosquitoes here but they are smaller and less aggressive than the ones in Muskoka.
It's a lovely cool evening and it will be nice to just curl up with my book and listen to the raindrops on the roof as I drift off to sleep.
