DAY FIVE
Well,
the weatherman was correct so I woke to very dark skies and off and on rain.
Thoughts of exploring old Quebec City in the rain nudged me to pack up and head
up river to Riviere du Loup.
I
didn’t sleep all that well for some reason so I actually got up at 6:00 am. I
know…..nuts, right?
I
now have some lovely fresh grapefruits for breakfast so I’m back to my good old
breakfast routine.
I
still had to take my wheel and tire back to the shop down the road that
installed the wrong size tire on my rim. They were very nice again and replaced
the tire in 10 minutes.
Check
out at the campground wasn’t till noon so I had plenty of time to pick up a few
things and get back to mount the wheel and get hooked up. I had finished my
shopping and was headed back to the KOA when my cell phone rang and it was the
tire dealer telling me to come by the shop. They had apparently forgotten to
give me back the big chrome center cap for the wheel.
I’m
not really sure what to make of the whole tire thing and the dealer. I don’t
think they were just messing with me. It was just a series of little mistakes
that put me out but they resolved everything pleasantly and quickly. I won’t be
returning.
AFTER:
An
hour later I had the wheel on and was jumping back on the blacktop heading to
Riviere du Loup.
The
drive was only about two hours and as I drove north, out came the sun.
Halleluia!
The
information center in town called and found that the nice campgrounds right on
the St. Lawrence River were full but did find a nice private camp spot about
twenty minutes drive from the water.
This
campground has a lot of people who live here or vacation here but some of these
trailers are permanent fixtures with decks and sheds and obvious signs that
this ain’t no weekend jaunt.
As
I entered the grounds it was obvious that I had entered a time warp or people were just too lazy to take down their Christmas decorations. Check out my new
neighbour's place, a really friendly lesbian couple with two cats on leashes.
After
getting settled I got out my mountain bike and took a ride through the park.
Apparently in Quebec at this time each summer, employers give all their workers the next two weeks off. I’m here for their first party weekend so things could
get crazy and sleeping may not be an option.
Stay tuned for "the rest of the story".
Stay tuned for "the rest of the story".

What an eventful first week! A blowout in the rain is scary.
ReplyDeleteGlad you and the trailer are safe and luckily landed in the middle of a party to celebrate being all fixed up and back on the road!
Be safe and keep having fun!
Thanks for following along Patti.
